WEAMA "A 10-year Retrospective" - Posted 6/18/2018

Greetings from WEAMA!
WEAMA appreciates your continued support! Thank you!

A big legislative year lies ahead as we navigate physical therapists and nurse practitioners lobbying to add acupuncture to their scope of practice. WEAMA is also working to update our professional scope of practice to more correctly reflect our high standards of education and training. It is imperative to work as a professional unified collective to ensure our profession is protected and preserved.

How can you help? Call to action!

Our association needs membership numbers to be 50% plus 1 of our profession to have the greatest impact. As it stands, only 10% of Washington LAc's are members of WEAMA. For as little as $15 dollars a month you help pay for our profession to have a consistent presence in the legislation process through our dedicated and successful lobbyist, Leslie Emerick. She acts on every opportunity to help our profession succeed. Most recently Leslie added our profession at the last moment, via WEAMA for all Washington acupuncturists, to the prior authorization bill and because of that acupuncturists patients can receive 6 visits before prior auth! Without our lobbyist our profession would not be where it is today. Please take time to renew your membership if it has lapsed, join our membership, or donate to our PAC fund (legislative fund) to make your dollar and voice heard! Proof is in the pudding...

WEAMA asked our amazing lobbyist Leslie Emerick‚Äč to create a document to share with all Washington licensed acupuncturists to keep you abreast and show what your WEAMA membership dollars are paying for. Leslie graciously created a "10 year retrospective" of WEAMA's legislative and public policy accomplishments. It is packed full of vital information!

Here is to a successful legislative session!
